Getting my S2000 next week and am going to have to make it a winter warrior for at least this winter. Just wondering if there is any on else that has driven their machine through the northern winters. I am guessing that it can be handled with the near 50/50 weight distribution. Trust me I would rather not do it, but it may be a nessessary evil.
vtecin, DON'T DO IT! Run out and pick up a beater car for the winter and put that S away! I just tossed $800 to pick up a beater (my wife drives the TB and daughter the ZR2 - small sacrifice for my S ) I'm sure you'll find something!
Even if we have a relatively easy winter, the handful of days that are bad, you'll be in sad shape if you're stuck with the S.
Not to mention the snow, ice, and road salt on your baby!!!
i drove mine all last winter and didn't have any problems, it was actually kind of fun. denver doesn't use road salt so i don't have to worry about that. just keep it slow
Why pay so much for a car and use it only half the time unless you plan on keeping it forever. This will be my first winter with it but it is winterized:

I am two inches from ordering a hardtop too, might hold off to see if I can survive it with the 02 heated rear glass.
Before xviper jumps in, the S can handle very well in the snow if you give it the right equipment.

I just had a set of Dunlop M2's mounted on my spare set of wheels. I think that they will be great when the weather gets nasty. Take a look at the Tire Rack's tests on the different tires. I liked the specs on the Dunlops the best, Blizzaks next. Apparently Jim agreed, he told me to get the Dunlops, also.
When it comes to winter driving, do what you are comfortable with. Know your limits and know the car's limits. Drive within both of those limits and you should be OK.
For those who know me, they also know that I am adament about using this wonderful car in the harshest of winter climates. I have reponded to most threads of this nature. If you search my username and words like "winter" or "snow" you'll see that this question has been asked since the very beginnings of this forum. I won't bore you with my "musings" here as you can search them out if you wish. but here's a sampler:
I've driven my car in the snow for 2 winters in a row...but I change to Winter tires!
There are alot of threads about snap-oversteer in th wet/semi-wet on the standard S-02s, so expect it to be 10 times worse in snow! Look at the S-02s...almost as smooth as the bottom of your Skiis
