other things you could point out to impress him...

The oil pan is bound to the engine and transmission, and also finned to act as a heat SINK. Oil pan is also cast aluminum and not stamped steel.

There is a girdle segment between the block and oil pan instead of just bearing caps.

Rocker arms have rollers on them to reduce friction with the camshaft.

Head is factory ported.

Rotating assembly is forged.

There is a scissor-gear between the chain and camshafts, which has very little play. It also makes the block compact...it's about the size of a SOHC D16 actually actually...it's much smaller than my B18C from my old Integra.

CV joints on the main driveshaft instead of the more-normal U-joints

Entire powertrain is behind the front axle.

And last, but certainly not least...every component is accessible. The oil filter can be changed from above the car...oil changes are cake.

Your car is more than 10 years old and revs to 9000 without grenading...and it can actually breathe there.

Cons...the timing chain tensioner is a bad design...but can be changed in 10 minutes...above the oil filter and below the VTEC solenoid.

Great story! Just today my neighbor and I were talking about when the next S2K was or may be coming out and how Honda was f*#ked with the task of ATTEMPTING to improve what is close to perfection! hehehe

Yea maybe classy isnt the right word for it. Good engineering would be better?
