S2000 Stolen

Insurance companies COUNT on you wanting to make a quick settlement, that's for sure. Years ago, a fully loaded dump truck ran a red light just as I pulled into the intersection. I believe the total weight was 46 tons, +/-, so he basically turned my car into a metal taco...the officer's jaw dropped when he finally understood I was the driver...he said I should be dead.
Anyway, the insurance company wanted to lowball me. This was a '77 Celica that I had replaced the speakers and pushbutton radio in...for a grand total of like $400, so nothing special. I put a lot of time and money into the engine, not for heavy mods, but just to make sure it ran right, and it was a solid-running car. They offered $1000 and complete write-off on the medical
I went to the junkyard a day or two later to retreive my radio and speakers. The adjuster checked it out the following day at the junkyard. He tried to pull some BS about how the car was significantly lowered in value because it didn't have a radio...I told him I would be happy to provide the stock radio (just happened to have it still in the garage)...asshole. He refused my offer, so I went ahead and bought another car, waiting for the fight to begin.
I waited over a year, but they finally offered full coverage of medical bills (DUH!) and $2000, which is all that was asked in the FIRST place. The only reason they eventually settled is because they can't afford to keep too many open claims on the books for extended periods of time...it makes them look bad, and they can get into some serious trouble from the government.
