I had a similar problem once, I needed new rear tires, so i went to a tire shop and asked for the same tires I had on the front Kuhomo SPT, but they put on Kuhomo AST, this is an all season tire, as soon as i got on the freeway (dont worry internet police) at around 50mph it all felt loose, and by the time i reached 65 (i never speed)(lol) it was downright scary. I took it back and they put on the right tires and all was good. I dont know if it was just having the all seasons, or the mix of summer in front and all season in back. But it felt like what you are describing.

I think it's possible that you will need to replace the front tiires also. I know that the tread is still good but the wear pattern on the interior and side plys may be affecting the handling. I suggest you replace the two front tires and use the old ones as spares.

Are the front and rear tires the same brand/model?

man, everyone here has gone 100mph. they are hipocrites if they say they havent. are you completely sure that the alignment is within factory specs? you should post up your specs.
I have never seen over 90 in my S.

I want to LIVE, legally drive, and be able to afford payments, because i don't have to cover $200+ speeding tickets.

The tires are different from front to rear. The fronts are Goodyear, and the rears are Federals. Sounds like there is a good chance this could be part of the problem (especially since the fronts were not replaced). I think I am going to buy the recommended factory brand of tires for all 4 corners and just keep or sell my other ones. I will check out the alignment specs and post them (but when I looked at them, they all looked ok according to the service manual).

Might be tires. And you took those to the track? Yikes.

Yea first thing you need to do is put on 4 decent tires that are same brand/tread and go from there. I recommend dunlop z1 starspecs.

I had OEM front tires and PS2 rear tires in stock sizes and my car was fine. Near the end of the rear tire life (28K miles) I could feel a lack of grip. New tires are PS2 in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 - there are no issues with tracking/stability.

Thanks. I know factory size for a 2004 is 215/45/17 (front) and 245/40/17 (rear). Is it ok to use 225s in front and 255s in the rear? Are the rims on 04-05 the same width as 06-07? I would hate to create another issue...
