dang, I did't check Car Talk
In that case I will turn this into a poll in order to avoid further embarrassment.
Considering this car will be a future classic, what would you do if you pop the engine?

I don't think I could ever do a swap unless I keep the original motor preserved and the swap doesn't require structural modifications. In other words, this would never happen in my world.
My realistic plan would be to find a very competent shop to rebuild my original motor with some hidden improvements - balanced and blueprinted, port match and polish head, JDM pistons (more compression iirc), maybe a stroker kit. The goal being to keep numbers matching and stock looking. This way I can improve performance a bit while retaining future collectable value. The CR is the COPO Camaro of our model, so I don't expect my regular AP2 to appreciate the same.
