Sorry to hear about the accident.
Let me tell you a little about how insurance works. The field adjuster (the guy who physically examines your car) won't care how the accident happened. His job is to place a value on the damage, that's it. The liability examiner will take your version of what happened, but be forewarned, they are usually pretty good at smelling BS too. I am also sorry to tell you that your at fault for the accident. Despite the fact that the road conditions were slick you should of been operating you vehicle at safer rate of conduct. It should be deemed a loss of control (a 504 I believe). No insurance company will place blame on the weather. You can't subrogate against mothernature.
Your best bet is to come clean. You'll be covered regardless of fault under you collision coverage. The insurance company will cut you a check for the value of the damage or the value of the vehicle minus your deductible and send you on your way. Again, I'm sorry for the accident, its a crappy place to be in. I hope I have not upset you by stating posting this. I know this info because I am a liability examiner for a very large insurance company.

P.S. I hate to tell you this but chances are any mods you have on the car, such as those new wheels, will not be covered. That is known as betterment on the vehicle. Most parts especially performance parts will not be considered even if you have receipts. Unless you have claimed the parts/ wheels on you dec page (meaning you've been paying a higher premium since the insurance company knew the wheels were in use) they very well may not be covered. Again, I'm sorry.

I had a WRX for a few months- the brakes were downright scary, didn't feel very powerful and the handling on tarmac was like a wet noodle. It only shined on low-grip surfaces like dirt or snow.

I waited a long time for it, since I do rally I wanted a rallycar for the street- but this car turned out to be a poser.

I'm sure you could hop it up and make it better, or get the STi.

No it's not upseting to hear. It's about what I expected. I never planned on lying to the insurance company because there is no doubt it was my fault, and like you said I'm covered anyways. So if they wont replace my rims, wil they replace them with stock ones? How much do those go for from the factory? I still have my stockers, so I might get my deductible back out of this by keeping the money for new rims and putting the stockers back on.

I live near the hospital, and I'm Hispanic, but I look like a white guy. I'm going to the body shop soon. I'll try to post pics.

sorry to hear about your mishap but i doubt that it is totaled cause it takes a lot to total a 30,000$ car. I'm just finishing up fixing one for a guy on the New England thread, he had hit a pole and i basicaly have to replace the whole nose and it's nowhere near totaled

OK. Got the initial estimate. 12000, but that only includes one rim for some reason. THis will be adjusted to all 4, and the estimate states that "the car was driven off road. Potential exists for signifigant suspension and undercarraige damage". Why don't they check?!?! Lazy bastards. They're saying 3 months to fix it after they determine if its totaled. That sounds like too long. Anyone know a good body shop in central Maryland? How much more damage do they need to find to total it? Its an 02 with 9100 miles.

actually most insurance companies wont total it unless it is 80% or more because you need to understand that an insurance company is going to want to get out of it the cheapest way possible. So do the math
