Default S2000 trunk

Alright, so I am currently driving a 95 ford contour and I am thinking of getting a used honda s2000 because I like the sporty look and hear they are really reliable. Anyway, I have a kicker L7 12 in sub and I was wondering if a sub box(ported) with the size of 19.25" x 14.25" x 16.25" would fit in the trunk? And if not, do you guys need custom boxes or have to go with a bazooka sub? Thanks, and hopefully I will get this car soon

I'm not sure if those dimensions would fit, but there are custom sub boxes available for the s2000. check out the audio section for more info

the s2000 has an unconventional trunk, in that the center has a recessed portion, and when you remove the tools contained therin, it becomes pretty deep. this pretty much precludes putting in any standard sub box, but does allow for a custom (or pre-made, via one of a couple forum sponsors) box to be fitted in the "toolwell" resulting in a near-flat floor (this allows you to still carry a set of golf clubs, if you are so inclined. the other option is a custom/pre-made enclosure in one of the side sections, though fitting a 12 in that amount of space might not work.

cheers,

I would just leave the sub out. Adds too much weight to the rear of the car and will never sound as good as a hard top or hatch back car does. Most of the bass will be muffled and distorted and will end up just rattling the trunk lid. Don't get me wrong, I am not against loud systems. I too am a bass-head I have a S-10 blazer on air bags with 6 12's in the back! And I used to install audio for a living back in the day.

That sounds like it will fit... I put a motorcycle helmet box in there, and it's approximately the same dimensions.

That said, I wouldn't do it if I were you simply because you will lose out on the little storage space the car has.

JL Audio is the only way to fly. I've used one in both my S2Ks.

You want an S because of the looks and the reliability?

Jeez, could you possibly miss the point of this car any more?

1st off buy the car because it is rediculous...so much fun performence is the best for the price and looks awesome...but as for the subs look at JL Audio's stealth box...u have to remove the tools from the trunk but the box fits right in the well very nicely and you can fit one 10' sub...and contrary to what people are sayin if you get the right sub it does sound pretty good because the car is so small....let us know what u do

There are some nice box options in the S2Ki ICE forums. Check em' out before you drop that box in the S.
