Default S2000 trunk dimensions, AP1 vs AP2

i'm guessing no, but i figured i'd ask anyway. i go snowboarding and cannot for the life of me fit my board in the trunk. it misses by about 6 inches and i don't want to flex the board that much to try and jam it in there.

anyway, i guess it sounds ridiculous that i'm taking driving an S2000 anywhere that has snow and hills. i don't even go that often (living in DC) but it'd be nice to have cargo space and fold down seats that i had in my RSX. driving the S is hands down a much better experience but at the expense of room to bring anything anywhere.

i'm starting to get the itch to sell the S already....is that bad? i only have 5,000 miles on it. i'm hoping part of it is only due to the fact that it's been cold and i haven't been able to ride with the top down.

though today is an exception (65 degrees!)

Trunks are identical from AP1 to AP2 as far as I know. You can always put the snow board in the passenger area if it isn't too long.

Keep the S and buy a mid 90's Subbie Legacy or Impreza, AWD with decent gas mileage and all problems solved.

yup pretty much the s2k was never designed for the bad weather so just pick up an older subie...they are fun in the snow and the s is fun in the heat

considering that you cant use snow chains on the S, what are you going to do if it starts to snow while you are there?

The car has no need for chains......ever. If you are in snow chain territory, you are way out of the S2000's league. Snow tires do just fine in most snowy conditions that the ride height can handle.

Speaking as somebody in the DC Metro area who left an S and is now actively shopping around for another one.... Don't sell it.

We don't really get snow around here that a set of AP1 wheels and decent winter rubber wouldn't handle. Even in my 5th Gen Prelude...if the snow was deep I was going nowhere anyway...FWD or not. I also found...even when caught in the snow in CT, I liked driving the RWD S2000 over my Prelude (winter tires)...I just felt more in control because there was no slip-understeer.... I'll definitely get another hardtop.

My X-country skiis barely fit in my Lude with the back seats down....They kissed the windshield.... I flirted with the idea of a trunk rack, but I never did it.

I did the whole two-car thing for a number of years, but this time around, instead of paying to buy, insure, and maintain two vehicles....I'm going to use the S daily.

i really have no problem with using the S2000 as a daily driver in the DC area. like you said, we rarely get snow here, and if there's 2-4 inches on the ground and they haven't plowed, i'm just not going to go anywhere in my car until they plow the roads anyway.

that said, it was nice to have the RSX because it handled relatively well and also had the flexibility of the fold down rear seats.

oh well.

Remove the spare tire and the use that area as a snowboard pass-through.

They also sell trunklid snowboard racks.

They also sell tire cables as chain substitutes.

If you can get close to getting your board into the trunk, then its definitely smaller than mine... I've got a 163 cm wide board... and if I take the s2k, I just stick it in the passenger's seat... cause my board is pretty big, I just put the top half way down, slide the board in, and close it back up... I always get looks when I carry the board in th S, but like one guy said, "dude, whatever it takes..."
