Maybe they wouldn't build a Type-R convertable, but the S2000's chassis is actually stiffer torsionally than my ITR was.

Open the hood of your S2K. See the red? If memory serves me correctly, Honda used the red on 3 cars: the S2K; the NSX; and the Integra type R. Conculsion: We probably have the Type R.

We actually have a Type R seriously ... It's just not called a Type R because of the 50th anniversary celebrations by Honda Japan. Nevertheless, all red engines from Honda means R models respectively. NA1 - C32B NSX, AP1 - F20c S2000, DC5 - K20a Integra Type R, DC2 - B18c Integra Type R and EK9 - B16b Civic Type R.

Forgetting the ATR, also equipped with a red valve cover.

Seriously though, if the S2K is indeed a R breed, then it should have a manual top.

No responsible caring engineering type Honda loving person would ever think of unleashing an R-type with more hp and a lighter body with those unforgiving OEM OS2 tyres (or is it tires) on an unsuspectivng and uninformed public unless then included (at the very least) a highly refined tire gauge with the car and a blood oath they will use it. If they do that... I can believe it.

The Honda Prelude Type S has a red valve cover.

IMO, the s2k is far from being an R. It has a whole bunch of compromises and ad-ons to make it more suitable for resale against it's competition.... A type R version would almost be a pure race car like the Elise...

I would love that.
