Default is the S2000 a typical high mileage honda??

I'm still in the market for my S2000 and am planning on keeping my 1991 Civic as a daily driver. I'd like to get rid of my Civic, but it doesn't make sense -- it has 150K miles on it and seems to drive better and better (except for my friends making fun of it!).

I'm curious if the S2000 is a typical high-mileage Honda like my Civic -- are there any people with 100K plus miles on theirs?? Does the interior stay tight over time (no squeeks or rattles)??

My Dad has a GM discount and I could get a Corvette convertible for a similar price to the S -- the problem with the Corvette conv. (to me) is that it's 99% cheese and the quality's also crap, especially down the road.

Thanks all --

eric

i don't think the s2000 has been out long enough to see even 70k miles, i thought i read here somewhere that people are reaching 60k miles with no complication.

if you worry, then get the extended warranty.

and again, it's a honda, so i don't/won't worry about high milage too much.

you take care of her, she takes care of you ... that's the deal.

I am getting about 23 and change. Thats driving
most of the time below 60 MPH with some stop and go mixed in. However, most definatly some VTECing
involved.

I think SilverSurfer is winning the highest mileage award so far. He is probably the best one to show how the S2000 is a high endurance vehicle. He races it and drives it all over the santa cruz area and its still going strong. When I rolled 20k the other day, i just sat there and thought that at least I don't have as many miles as him!!

heh

If you have snow in your area keep the Civic. Otherwise there's no reason why the S2K would be a problem if you take good care of it like your Civic. After all it's just another Honda, that's what I tell people who asked what I drive I drive my S everyday, unless it snows badly in the winter then I'll consider looking for a CRX as a beater.

Thanks for all your input -- I will keep my Civic as an everyday driver, especially if I stay in Buffalo and have to fare another winter here!!

BTW, I'm gonna go from HELL to HEAVEN when I buy my S -- transitioning from a 75hp, 4 speed Civic with NO TACH to an S2000 will likely be better than sex after prison -- we'll see

I'll tell you, the S2000 with the original tires, is a sick puppy in the snow. I live at 7400' in altitude and when winter comes, the car goes in the garage. With the gravel on the road and the very soft tires, you will want to keep it away from the roads. The aerodynamics of the car also leads to windshield pits and paint chips when there is gravel. No dirt roads for me in this car!
I am getting about 25 in my regular drive and when I drove it to Albuquerque to see a friend at 400 miles on the odometer, I was getting 32!!! (Averaged right at 76 miles an hour) I have not done an Interstate stretch since so the 25 is more realistic.
