I was thinking the same thing...

You know a car is out of its prime when its compared to other cars that are below it in power, price and group. This is the beginning of the downhill descent of the s2k.

I disagree. You are taking a "glass half empty" view. I think that those other, slower, newer cars are honored by being compared with the S2000, a legend of its time.

That said, I don't understand the reason they did this comparo other than for fun.

I personally think that in 20 years we'll still be talking about the S2000, like we do about the Buick GNX of the 80's, and that it will represent what it is--a 4 banger sports car that was ahead of its time and until 2009 had a powerplant that produced more hp per liter than any other engine.
