Default S2000 vs 2019 MX-5

S2000 owner/writer from Ontario Canada made this comparison with a factory provided MX 5.

Thanks for the post. I have to disagree with the assessment of s2000 seats sucking. I've sat in numerous "sports" cars' seats and they all seem to be designed for fat people. I'm a skinny minny and the s2000 holds me in tight for autocross perfectly. but that being said, I really like the new Miata.

The only reason that the S2000 seats may suck is because of the full leather everywhere. I would much prefer suede in the center back and seat cushion for extra grip.

Otherwise, these seats are fine. (Although... the seats in my 1st gen Mazdaspeed 3 are actually significantly better in my opinion)

Love the ND2 and it'll be my next car when/if I lose my S2k.

I'm fat'ish, and the S2k seats are perfect. Best seats I've ever had.

Test drove a friends new Miata and I love it! Seats are better in the new Miata, however I prefer my son's seat on his Toyota 86GT, I fit perfect in it and and I am not fat.

The Miata is smooth, soft and not harsh whatsoever. I prefer having stiffer suspension but it can easily be changed. Would be next after my S2000, just love convertibles.

S2000 seats are fine and better for me, though I'm so big the transmission tunnel and the door hold me in place more than the bolsters.

The MX-5 is a nice car, but it doesn't meet one of my "must have" criteria - a golf bag doesn't fit in the trunk. I looked at a Miata after my RX-8 was totaled, but it was a no go.

I always wondered why they pinched the rear end so much? Definitely a much smaller trunk.

really? I'm a skinny guy myself and the seat doesnt hold me at all. All that ends up happening is me sliding around a ton during autocross and making me spend more energy than needed trying to keep myself in the seat.
