S2000 vs 2019 MX-5
The only ND I have driven (2016) is fully STR prepped with a race seat, so cant really compare from a stock standpoint. AND I only drove it on an autox course as I am co-driving it the remainder of the season and at nationals.
As for being a good STR car, there is no question why the class has turned almost 100% ND Miata. In STR prep it weighs around 2200 lbs, and you can certainly feel that lack for 500 lbs between the S2k and the ND. Having never even sat in one, within 4 runs put down the best finish I have had locally in a long time. A lot of its characteristics are very familiar to the S2k, only lighter and more nimble.

Much the same assessment that I came to.
No doubt the S2000 is something special but it really only shines on a course. I bought the s2000 just to wet my appetite for a convertible until the ND2s become more readily available used.
The ND works equally well on the street or on the track.

One thing I wish he mentioned was the ease of working on a Honda vs Miata. Then again those buying brand new cars are not expecting to ever go under the hood themselves for the first 5 to 8 years typically. I'd say the Miata is a better choice if you just want a Convertible but if your a car guy the s2000 will just always feel a bit more special. One thing about cars with navigation is that the interface is one of the first things to feel dated, which is why navigation mods on the s2000 are often tacky.
A very interesting comparison that was necessary for a long time already! Seems the Mazda has really caught up in terms of performance and driving feel. But there is one thing that no miata does as well as the S2000. It looks so ****ing good, hands down...no comparison at all. An Ap2 with full OEM Accesoires lowered and nice wheels..soo sexy after all these years. No comparison, period!

Most cars can be.
