S2000 vs. Miata
S2K vs Miata checklist
Want stares, looks and attention?: S2000
Engine Performance?: S2000
Handling?: S2000 by a nose
Reliability?: Miata only because it has been around so long and nearly all mechanics have worked on one.
Cost?: Miata
Coolness?: S2000
Babe Magnet?: In casual circumstances I think the Miata wins this one - most girls love the Miata and will talk to you about it. Yes, a lot o fgirls like th eS2000 too but often many think it is ugly and or not cute enough.. If you want to "impress" people with a rare car that isn't cheap then the S2000, but you are kidding yourself if yo uthink either with make a difference. If you subject yourself to people like that then I am sorry..
Modification ability?: Miata because it has been around so long..
If you just want a good handling open air vehicle and don't care about the fluff the Miata will do fine. Plus you can buy a nice used pickup or sedan with the spare cash..
If you want something high performance, plan to use it and want something a little more exclusive then the Stook is a good choice..
Good Luck in either case.

what kind of "babes" do you know? the rpimary reason i got the s2000 (over CL, TA...) was its looks and i'm pretty sure most females agree it looks better than a miata
it might be that they know more about a miata and therefore would be willing to talk

s2000 definitely wins in the babe dept. I don't know about in other places but here in miami, based alone on how much $$$ more it is than the miata will attract the females in the same proportion. Plus the other obvious reasons(exterior styling, performance, interior styling.)
I think, other than style, the choice is more of a "you get what you pay for" choice. If you have the money you'd want the S. If not, you'd want the Miata. Heck most of us would drop the S like a hot rock for a Modena 360 (if we could afford it)...
I wouldn't be so fast to assume the S handles "better" than the Miata.

You can't go wrong either way.
The best short comparison that I have heard is likening the S 2000 to a "Miata on steroids".
I drove the Miata and it made me do this ->
I drove the S 2000 and it made me do this ->

Drive them both and let the "grin factor" decide.

Thanks for all the input!!
I have driven both cars, and there is no doubt in my mind which one is more fun to drive!
Again, it is that blasted practicality that whispers to me "sure, the S2000 is a peppy, revvy car with all kinds of performance ability.....but how much of that will I be able to utilize without losing my license?"
Which is where the Miata comes in. Attractive car, fun, handles really well......just doesn't have the muscle or speed of the S2000 and feels not quite as well made in general (maybe I'm on crack, but that was my impression).
That's the dilemma.
I may spend the extra $10K on the S2000 but never really utilize the capacity that the car has,
OR
I may spend $10K less and regret that I didn't buy the S2000!
I suppose either way I win, since I get a new little roadster. I win bigger with the S2000 at the cost of $10K extra!
So....keep doing what you are doing......telling me how dumb I would be to not buy the S2000.....I need the moral support!

[B]1. It's very comfortable, for what it is. I drove mine 900 miles home from where I bought it (New Orleans). I was solo, and had no significant stiffness when I got home.
With the aeroscreen and windows up, wind buffeting in the cockpit is minimal. You can easily hear the stereo or talk to your passenger at 80 mph.
Agree with all of the above. Drove mine, when I moved, from Mpls. to Dallas. 1000 mi in 15 hours. No problem. Great ride

The S2000 is worth every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, dollar.
You only live once, (who knows maybe twice, or more) Don't spend your time in your Miata, thinking I should of bought a S2000.
I did that once before, bought a car, but didn't have the options that I wanted, and traded it in a few months later. Then got the car I really wanted, with all the options that wanted from the start. In the long run it would of been more cost effective to wait and get the car I really wanted.
Just my two cents...
