S2000 vs. Miata
Thanks for the warning about Carland Service.
I haven't lived in GA long, but from what I understand, you pay the sales tax of the county in which you reside, and not where the dealership is located. Fortunately, I live in (5%) Cobb County!

I just drove my new S2k home 600+ miles from Denver to Oklahoma. The only complaint I would mention is that I could barely hear the stock radio over my engine. I do have a supercharger in it so it's a little louder than most s2ks. Other than that, I absolutely loved driving it. I'd do it twice a day if I could somehow eliminate all the bugs I hit from the drive.
Miata's are for girls anyway!
(no offense to all you female s2k owners, you of course are already cool)

Bought a new S2000 a couple of months ago for 32 even, Vern Eidie Motor Cars Sioux Falls, SD. Shipped it to Kansas City for 300 bucks. I don't know if you can get a Miata for 16K, but if you can, with even the great finance charges Mazda is giving, you got a pretty good argument for the Miata.
I like the S2000 and how rare it is, but give me a Miata with 14-16K in the bank, and you ain't suffering. Throw about 2-3K of that into some Mazda upgrades (turbo) and you probably got as fast of car also. Have fun either way.

My Girlfriend and I were also caught up on choosing a roadster, we checked out the Mr2 spyder it was ok but one point to look at was when my girlfriend noticed how cheap the spyder felt so we ruled that out
so we went across the street to look at miatas for myself because she hated the miata but when you she drove it she loved it and wanted it at the moment
then we saved the best for last and after seeing and driving the S2000 there was no option on what we roadster we were getting
Miata is nice but S2000 is on a whole new level definitely get the S2000 you'll thank us.

I owned a 1996 Miata (1.8 liter with stiffer chassis) that had some good Bilstein suspension mods and 16" wheels. It was a great car and I remember having LOTS of fun in it. Very chuckable.
But, enter the newer Miate. I just cant help when looking at it from behind that it looks like one of those 'water spiders' that skates along the water.........all gangly and awkward looking - like it's wheels are just "out there"!!!
However, look at an S2000 and I don't think there's one visual aspect of it that is hard to look at........I believe it looks great from any angle. I also really like the way the seats sit 'in' the car, whereas, the Miata with its new seats look like they 'stick out'.
It's really your decison......but I would never buy a Miata again knowing that something like the S2000 exists. I've had so much fun in my S2000. With the Porterfield pads, the braking is simply awe-inspiring. The Miata could NEVER hope to match that.
You know, it's funny........I ALWAYS see Miata owners catching sideways glances at S2000's (maybe they're too embarrassed to look at it full on), but I NEVER see an S2000 driver even thinking twice about looking at a Miata. It's nothing interesting.
If money is not the issue here, you just can't go wrong with the S2000. Yes, it is THAT good of a car. I've owned a lot of fast cars, including a 1997 RX7TT and a 2000 C5 6sp coupe.......but the S2000 always puts a smile on my face. It is like a little race car!
When I took this Lithuanian guy for some hot laps at Gingerman Raceway earlier this year, all he could do was keep his thumbs up in the air and had a constant huge grin on his face. When he did speak his very limited English, he kept saying enthusiastically "Ayrton Senna, Ayrton Senna". I think me and the car impresses him greatly!
Yo uwill NOT be disappointed with an S2000. Somebody in the area please take Mike for a test run to help convince him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
