I think age and gender may play a role in the reaction to this comparison. I will say no more....

I own a turbo 99 miata which has 247hp at the rear wheels, and by most accounts more torque then the s2k.and handles as well also. The biggest difference between the two if the miata is turboed is the quality of the interior materials, the seats, headlamps etc. Then you have to factor the cost between the two miata=22k,s2k=34k
Both are great cars and would buy the new s2k if I could find one @ 2k under sticker.

Glad you're impressed nownor. You started this thread bitching about being mistaken for a "friggin Miata" and obviously trolling for more bashing. I had 40k in my pocket a couple years ago and wanted a fun reliable roadster, having had Austin's and other crap that you couldn't depend on getting from A to B. That gives you a certain amount of choices....S2k's, Mr2's, Miata's, Z3's....
I tested alot of cars and found that for 4000 bucks I could get a perfect NA and they were funner than shit to whip around. I used the remainder to buy three condos, fixed them up and am now in the process of turning them. I am looking at at a quarter million dollar profit without taxation on any of it and now am looking for newer cars. I still love the S2k and found this board, so I lurk around and read how the car is fleshing out...it sounds to me like people who are car enthusiasts love 'em, which is totally what I want to hear. But to try to trash the car that started the reliable roadster revolution is just bullshit. I know that it's fun to gush at a certain level of the foodchain and crap on anything cheaper, but it's lame. You don't know what that Miata driver has hidden in the garage. Do a search on the Miata sites about 'other cars' and you'll find we do have other cars...NSXs, Porsches, Jag's, whatever....we still like our Miatas.

The Miata is a great, inexpensive and fun sports car. Compared to the S2K in stock format it is no match but I have driven several and find them very enjoyable. A good driver can give you a run on the twisties but an equally good S2K driver will "Eat a Miata for lunch and not even bother to spit out the bones" Quote from Road & Track.

I think it's great....anyone who mistakes them obviously doesn't know shit and there's nothing better than making that other guy in domestic iron think he just got smoked by a Miata.

i wan't necessarily trolling for a miata bashing...in my personal opinion i don't like them..hell i like camaro's and vettes, and other people hate them...people bash on them all the time...each car has its advantages and disadvantages..but my personal opinion is against the miata....i meant that i was impressed to find so many people for the miata...cuz for as many years as i can remember no one has ever really said anything as positive about it as these last few posts...i'm really glad you like your miata...i will always like the camaro regardless of how many people don't like them and the bad stigmas and stereotyping they get...especially those IROCs in the bronx and brooklyn....

no problem nownor, didn't mean to sound harsh. I just like cars and can usually find something good about any of them. Hell, I can find somethings I like about Camaro's and Vette's...(j/k). I just don't know when I read this shit sometimes if people have even had the experience of jamming around by PCH or something in anything besides an S2K...there actually are other cars out there that provide fun and pleasure.

People that can't distinguish between a Miata and an S2000 are the type of people whose thoughts I could really care less about in the first place.
