S2000 vs. Miata
We seriously considered a miata and a Mr2 spyder (even put down a couple of deposits to order one) but those cars were just too SMALL and SLOW...for our tastes..especially after driving the S2000. The only car that had a remote chance of being in the drive way was the TT convert..but it was just NOOOO fun to drive. Anyway back to the thread at hand...the miata is a great little car and it is very fun to drive but comparing it to the S2000 is a little over zealous...
it's mainstream competition would be the spyder..

Wow...you would kick some inncocent off the street 358 times in the balls for making that type of mistake? Weren't you the guy that just asked why your brand new S2K wasn't "redling"-ing correctly and was apparently amazed it has a cold rev limiter (as stated in the Owner's Manual)? We all make mistakes apparently...
This is reiterated in this thread, but the Miata is a solid performance car. Look at the weight, torque, suspension, everything is perfect balance.
I drove a 99 emerald mica with leather, Bose, Bilstein shocks, Torsen limited slip, chromed OEM wheels, and other mods, for three years. I loved this car.
Until I could afford an S.
And the rest is history.
Ha!

Between the S2000 and the Miata, there is no doubt that the S2000 is better overall. However, the Miata is nontheless a great roadster. If I couldn't afford the extra $10G, I would be very happy driving a Miata around. As far as owner community is concern, we have a good group here at S2Ki. But I think we still have a long way to go before we can have the organizational maturity of the Miata clubs. The Socal Miata organization have a Hang Over Run annually, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the 2002 event along with some other S2K owners. It was the most well organized run I've participated in. If you are invited to run the canyons with the Miata, I highly recommand you give it a try. Those Miata can really hang on to the roads
