S2000 vs Miata: driving at "the limit"
Am at a coin toss between New Miata and the S as a DD. Drove them both, like the S a bit more. As a previous miata owner, I appreciate the S for better build quality, handling, seat, shifter, plus I'm intoxicated by the engine/exhaust sound....
My ONLY reservation now is about what I've read on the scary, unpredictable, or dangerous nature of the S at "the limit" (these are the words U commonly see). I guess I don't know what that means for the S , prolly hard to define via forum. But I doubt I would hit "the limit" on my 8 mile commute to work. I drive somewhat aggressively (take turns fast) but not to point of squealing tires usually. I don't plan on AutoXing..just like showing up to work with a big grin
Please help sell me on the S....because I can tell it's a superior machine.
How big of a problem is this? Is there any advice you can give? I do plan on taking a Skip Barber driving course this year (birthday gift from the wife!).
Any insight greatly appreciated....based on your responses, I may be one of the many happy S owners soon!!

Not so much an issue these days, there's a built in safety margin with how Honda has the tires, suspension and alignment set up these days. Plus there's always the VSA which is reportedly quite effective.
I'd say that the "at the limit" behavior of the S2000 isn't anything negative. Buy the car and have fun. (Spend some time at an autocross if you're really worried, but that holds true for the Miata as well.)

You can have plenty of fun in the S (or the Miata) without going anywhere near your limit, let alone the cars limit. If you're not normally squeeling the tires, you're nowhere near the limit so the car should be perfectly safe and just one pass into VTEC will be enough on your commute to ensure you arrive at work with that grin.

S2000 is very safe, and manageable at the limit, provided you know how to drive RWD car, which I assume you do, since you owned a Miata before.
most of the scary moments happen with someone who doesn't respect the car ability, or simply moved from FWD to the S and doesn't know how to drive RWD properly (read throttle induced oversteer).
other than that it's a no brainer that the S2000 is a superior car.
