Da Hapa,

That WRX in my signature belongs to my sensible 19 year old son. Bought it two months after I got my S2000.

My final determining rational for getting the S2000 being that even though the WRX seemed so much more practical both financially and geographically (Massachusetts) it was the sensibility of the WRX that finally pushed me away from it. I don't want to be practical, I wanted a toy , I bought it, and have NEVER regretted my choice. If I'd gone the other way and bought a WRX, I'm certain I would have had pangs of anxiety every time I saw an S2000. Any other members have similar feelings?
I had EXACTLY the same feelings about 3 months ago. But then I thought I can own a 4-seater AWD WRX ANYTIME in my life. But the best time to own the S2000 is right now for me....no kids, no wife, and not a worry in the world (except what my next S2000 mod will be).

If I ever need to get the kids to hockey practice in 5 minutes thru a driving blizzard, I'll consider the WRX. It is a NICE vehicle.

WRX comes in a 4WD station wagon, right? The S2000 is a convertible, right? Subaru's are known lesbian cars, right?
The WRX is for offroad, the S2000 is for pavement, right?

Maybe I'm too far right...

Screw the WRX vs. S2K debate, its a bunch of nonsense. Just buy both of them.

hallo. I owned a '02 Spa Yellow S2000 for about 9 months and traded it for this beauty:

I've owned the WRX for about 2 months now and after doing some mods to it really like it. In fact, I like it much more than my S2000 and do not regret getting rid of the S2K.

Immediately after buying the WRX I thought I had made a mistake coz I couldn' get used to the gearbox and the mushy shifting. It just felt horrible compared to the precise shifting of the S2K. So, I bought a short shifter ($100), and a new shift knob ($40), and it made an incredible difference. I no longer feel I made a mistake.
I also purchased new wheels/tires ($899) and dropped the car 2" using springs ($225)
After these cheap mods I love the car a lot!

Here is what I like about the car:
- mass production car, so TONS of cheap mods. If you're into modding for performance this car is definitely for you. Check out
this dude's 375.9 WHP
- a 23k car that can be bought for $100 over invoice
- much less worry when leaving it in a parking lot
- I don't feel like I have to wash it every weekend. I let it get dirty
- much less flashy than Spa Yellow S2000
- absolutely no worry whatsoever when it rains
- 6 disc in-dash CD changer, and a decent 6 speaker sound system
- nice features like auto dimming mirror and compass
- seats are very comfortable

We all know what we like about the S2K, so I'll not point them out here. Just telling you what I think of the car and why it is good for me

Bad things:
- most of the people at the meets are tree-hugging bull dykes in Forresters and Outbacks j/k
- actually most of the people are teens or early twenties white guys, which was somewhat surprising to me since my first S2K meet was mostly mid to late twenties asians (of course the price of the car is the reason why)

Peace!
