S2000 water leaks
Hello!!!
I just purchased a 2000 black S2000. The car is more than I expected. What a rush!!
I do have a question related to the air conditioner. Does anyone have a problem with water dripping under the passanger side dash board. I called the dealership and was told the overflow tub may be plugged. That doesn't seem correct since the overflow tube is still allowing the car to release water underneather the front of the vehicle.
Anyone have an idea!

I don't think it is all that simple.. most of the time I don't think it a clog, but the fact that the unit sweats in high humidity.. I don't think you can control it during top down operation. I have found no fix for mine.

TSB 083, Leaky Air Conditioner
Service Bulletin Number: 00083
Bulletin Sequence Number: 199
Date of Bulletin: 0010
NHTSA Item Number: SB619954
Make: HONDA
Model: S2000
Year: 2000
Component: AIR CONDITIONER
Summary: THIS BULLETIN STATES THAT IN HUMID CONDITIONS, WITH THE A/C ON AND THE FAN RUNNING AT MAXIMUM SPEED, WATER DRIPS ON THE PASSENGER'S CARPET. *TT
When the AC is on maximum in humid conditions, condensation builds up on the condenser. The fan (on max) blows the water into the heater box which isn't water tight. The water leaks from the heater box into the passenger compartment. The fix is to get Dupont waterproof paste and tape to waterproof the seam of heater box. "vfr800"
It is a big job! You have to remove the evaporator/heater box and then seal a seam in the heater box. It is a shame to have have to remove the evaporator since this means opening the refrigerant lines and creating the necessity of evacuating and recharging. I always am very leery of opening a refrigerant system, especially when it isn't broke. BTW, Honda only allows 2 hours for the technician for this job. Considering the work to recharge the refrigerant I think this is awfully low. "Big Al"
