S2000 Weight
the celica is one of the lightest sport compact out I believe. The lotus elise is out and it has the celica gts engine in there and it only weigh in at around 1700-1800 lbs. I was reading that site and looking at the quartermile list, there have been a few celica that has ran high 13 and low 14 with just bolton (intake, header, exhaust, drag radial, weight reduction). There is a guy on there in the name of mirconrice that has intake, header, exhaust and he ran a 14.0 over at Sacramento a few weeks ago. He didn't do any weight reduction. Also I read that he just dyno his car and it made low 190 hp to the wheel and mid to high 130 in torque. here is his dyno. He now has i/h/e and computer chip made by apexi I believe.

he hasn't posted his low 190 yet but with what he puts out and the weight, its a monster no doubt. I'm guessing the next time he goes out, he will be in the mid 13 if not faster if he did some weight reduction. I have a 2001 S2000 and comparing my last dyno run to his, I only put out 198 hp and 137 lb of torque. I don't know but if the numbers are correct, the celica is pretty quick for what it is. I still love my S2000 so it doesn't matter but I hope I don't run into one of these fast celica on the road. It will put up a pretty good fight.

Does Bolt on's Really had that much hp to the celica.. They come stock with 180 and the s2k comes with 240.. You have a 300 pound difference but by looking at the dyno, with some modifications less than 1000 total, you can get a celica faster than an s2k cause of the weight.. Even if the weight were similar the dyno looks mighty close. Ive read some s2k owners getting a dyno at the rwhp of early 190's while the celica put out 188. I guess the engine of the celica gets alot of benefits with mods.
that powerband looks WAYYY to broad for a GTS. and it goes to 8500rpm.
those engines are known to blow up at over 7800, that's why toyota lowered the rev limiter. this guy likely has cams and at least an upgraded valve train.

Let me get this right silver monster, youre trying to tell me that your buddies Celica is putting out as much hp as your S2k. Are you on CRACK???
The reason why he is able to rev up that high is because the apexi stand alone computer allow him to do anything he wants. I have seen a couple of his video and man it looks like he is shifting around 8800 to 9k just like our car. Its nutz. I'll try and find the video for you guys.

First of all, I don't know the guy. I have a friend that has a red celica and he was the one that has told me what the celica is capable of and after doing some research on my own, it is pretty quick for what it is. Yes I know he is putting out as much power as some of the weak factory S2k. It might be that he has a factory motor...I don't know but he is putting out some good numbers. I heard that the celica drivetrain is pretty good and only loses about 12-13 percent whereas our car, it loses around 20-25 percent due to it being RWD. Factory rated HP doesn't mean crap...its what the car is making to the ground that matters. I wish our car could put out 240 WHP.

Using 25% means my engine would be putting out over 480 hp and I doubt that. The true loss number for an S is probably closer to 12- 15% but until someone does both an engine dyno and other dyno, who is to know?
I know an owner that has an engine dyno and has run the F20c on it several times. I'll check with him and see if he has both dyno types used on the same engine.
well I know 25 percent is too much, thats more like AWD but the S2000 loses about 18-20...figure its 240 hp at the flywheel and on average people are putting out anywhere from 190 to 200 to the wheel which is about 18-20 percent lost through the powertrain.
I found a video of him doing a run. Its pretty damn quick if you ask me. I just timed his 0-60 and it got low 5s but I don't know. Here is the video.

There is also many more shown here http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/index.htm
The 00-01 & 03 all have their rev limiters set to 8300ish even though the redline is at 7800. 02 was the only year where the rev limiter got reduced to 7800 then it was right back up for 03. Shifting the celica at 8300 is a whole other world than shifting at 7800. On the 1-2 if your shifting early it's almost impossible to land in the cars powerband which starts at 6k like ours. As mentioned the dyno posted also has a apexi power fc which when coupled with i/h/e does wonderful things for that little car. There are plenty of people who have had their celicas since early 2000 who are shifting at 8300 everyday without a problem.
I won't lie to you guys. The celica gts is honestly one of the most fun fwd cars I've ever driven. You rev the living hell out of it like you do with our cars and it moves decent and the handling and braking are amazing thanks to the cars light weight. It's no RWD roadster but it is a fun lightweight car you can run the hell out of. If I ever had to go back to a FWD sport compact, it'd be the celica gts or the srt 4.

You know, now that the MR2 Spyders are getting older and having engine failures, 2ZZ's are finding their way into Spyders. How do I know? My best friend has one of the few out there right now. We did a relatively low speed, rolling-start race on the street and it was neck and neck the whole time in a straight line. And that is with no significant performance mods! Luckily neither of us is really into the whole drag racing thing, and I'm still the better autocrosser, so the engine still isn't giving him bragging rights. But the fact that they're that fast, and weigh so little means that they've got a lot of potential!
