Default S2000 Windshield is a piece of JUNK

I seriously think Honda needs a recall of our Windsheilds. I mine is destroyed (pitted so bad I see sparkles when driving in the daylight), 5 other members windshields are pitted, and 2 of those are cracked.

I have owned fast cars before, driven fast, etc... and NEVER seen this kind of damage... ohh-- did I mention I have 3500 miles on my car?

I am going to replace the windshield with a NON-Honda windshield and HOPE that fixes this problem.

BTW-- As a test, I took sooooft steel wool to the windshield... the same stuff you use on pots and a pans. It just scratched the hell out of the windshield too. What kind of glass is this crap?

TSB the Windshield I say,
Aaron

I think some members have brought up the reason that it is because of the upright angle of our windshield, which is more susceptible to rockchips as opposed to when your windshield is flatter. I agree.

But if you do replace it with a non-OEM one, I am sure many of us would be interested to know your results as well.

at 21k, mine is all (arm)pits. It has been like that since 5k though... regional honda rep said "car sets low" and "upright angle on the windshield".....

Locally it is $425 installed for a new one....maybe next year.

[b]ps...when paying for a windshield out of your own pocket ALWAYS mention that when getting the quote!!!!!!! They notoriously rip off the insurance companies for an additional $200 or so!!!!!! My tip of the day...i get 50% of your savings.

I have about 3300 miles on my S2000 and my windshield is fine. Maybe you got a defective one...

It IS a piece of junk, but it's light and it works.
Maybe I will get a new one next year.

ive got 2K on mine, and its got a nice big pit on the passenger side, and a scratch in the middle. Is it possible to replace the windshield with one with a stronger laminate?

I had about a dozen pits on mine and a good size chip (unrepairable) dead center. I think it does have a lot to do with the angle of the windshield and how low the car sits. My car is about 1 year and 1 month old with about 10K miles on it.

I had the windshield replaced last week with a PPG windshield ($100 glass deductable through my insurance). So far so good but I've only driven about 100 miles with the new windshield.

I'm with STL, I don't even have a tiny chip in my windshield, and I'm at about 2100 miles. Maybe we have nice roads in St. Louis...
