S2000's Banned at VIR
There was a major Miata rollover incident two weekends ago that initiated a rule change at VIR (Virginia International Raceway www.virclub.com). If anyone has booked the Car Guys event for October 13, 14 & 15, you will not be allowed to run unless you have an aftermarket roll structure installed. VIR is pretty tight, for the viper I had to have a helmet and either a rollbar/cage or the hardtop on (note, hardtops are available for the s2k and you might be able to run them at VIR with the hardtops on, but that is a big expense...).
Hardtops are not an acceptable substitute for an approved S2000 rollbar at VIR.
The clip-on or hardtops will shear off --- and present a larger problem such as peeling your head off --- in the event of a rollover.
