Default S2000's Banned at VIR

There was a major Miata rollover incident two weekends ago that initiated a rule change at VIR (Virginia International Raceway www.virclub.com). If anyone has booked the Car Guys event for October 13, 14 & 15, you will not be allowed to run unless you have an aftermarket roll structure installed. And since there is no sanctioning body approved roll structure available (save a full cage), it

Well there is Mugen's cage. And one guy in Houston that can have a roll bar built for you - which mounts into the stock holes, so no cutting or drilling required - it runs ~$550.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...ghlight=rollbar

this thread has pictures of the silver/red S2000 in Houston.

Giampiero has one coming out but I think it might be another month or two before it ships to customers.

VIR is pretty tight, for the viper I had to have a helmet and either a rollbar/cage or the hardtop on (note, hardtops are available for the s2k and you might be able to run them at VIR with the hardtops on, but that is a big expense...).

Hardtops are not an acceptable substitute for an approved S2000 rollbar at VIR.

The clip-on or hardtops will shear off --- and present a larger problem such as peeling your head off --- in the event of a rollover.
