Default S2000's dropping like flys...

I read yet another thread today about an S2000 in an accident. I am curious as to how many others have been wrecked and how bad was the damage? I, for example, totaled my MY2000 about 4 weeks ago. The new one is almost broken in.

Yea, I wonder the same thing. I totally mine a year and a half ago - actually a little more. I have the notoriety of being the first totaled one in America...

I'd like to know how many are gone, too. I wonder how we can find that out?

I havent wrecked mine, but I know of one here in town that was badly damaged in a single car accident. I know the police officer that was a the scene, and he said one of the wheels was off and the car was a mess, but the passenger compartment was completely intact as was the driver.

This guy had the car restored and is driving it again, so they can make a come back.

Be careful stooking!! And no cell phones greg

I know of 4 (including mine) that have been totaled this year. One of them was so bad that the engine was actually torn from the transmission. The only salvagable pieces were the seats and bits of the interior. The driver and passenger survived with a few cuts and bruises, by the way.
Perhaps we are just "spirited" drivers in the south.

Hey, I use a hands-free phone!

Most of you probably know, but my first one has risen from the ashes as a show car now. It's owned by Body Werks, in a suburb of Chicago. Fully built out, with NOS and the Comptech blower. It runs 1/4 miles in the 12's, has a custom yellow pearlescent paint, fully customized interior, VAFC controller is where the passenger side airbag was and goes up and down with a remote control...the car is COMPLETELY insane. Oh, it's sponsored by Comptech and Valvoline.

I drop by and see Larry about once a month, next time I'll take some shots...I'll try to do that foday, in fact.

So yes, they can rise from beyond. My first one sustained something like 23,000 dollars in damage...I walked away. Not a sore muscle, nothing, just a badly bruised ego and very sad.

But I think out of the box, I liked Scarlet better anyway. I'm extremely happy with mine now - obviously.

As previously/recently announced, I lost my black s2k in a waltz with a center divider I did while avoiding the pickup truck that pulled out in front of me. Estimates started at $14k and just kept climbing to $24k, at which point the claims adjuster said, "Forget it--we'll total it." Which I was real happy about. Got my new (silver) one now and am spending a lot of money on upgrades. I hope that theory about lightning not striking twice in the same place relates to S2k's, too.

This is getting me worried. Can anyone tell me the cause of the accident? A lot of you guys have lost control of the car but was it cause you drove aggressively?

$9200 in damage. Rear-ended a BMW 5 Series. The bastard stoopped in front of me and I couldn't get enough traction to stop in time. Skidded right into him. The bodyshop has left the cost of damages open, so it could go higher, but I'm supposed to get my beloved S2000 back in 9 business days (woohoo) ... I do drive aggressively, but only when it is safe to do so. This accident occurred when I wan't even going 25mph ... so be careful guys cuz they happen when you least expect it!!

Greg,

Please post a pic of that race car. That sounds pretty cool.

As for me, the front of my car was backed into by an old man. He wanted a parking space that was right next to him, so he backed up. He didn't even look, cuz I was a few feet behind him. I honked, but his reaction time was so slow that he hit me. In fact, he didn't even know he hit me. That was the day I went to Torrance Memorial to see my just born niece and nephew. Also, this guy actually started bleeding on his arm. It was really gross. He barely rubbed his arm on his armrest and this triangular shape of skin just peeled off his forearm. I believe it was about an inch and a half in length. Man when you get old, your skin is like tissue paper. Anyways, it was minor damage, but still very expensive to repair. I had to drive this crappy little Corolla for a week. That was pure torture.

I know of one in South Flordia that was torn in half on I-95. I have no idea about the passengers or the exact details.
