S2200 according to C&D
August 2003 issue says on page 36:
Honda S2200? You'll notice on page 46 in this issue that Honda's raucous little S2000 has returned to top-dog status in the roadster class. Now comes word that the 2004 model, available this fall, will get a host of changes. The mighty-mile 2.0-liter turns into a 2.2-liter four. Although the new engine will pump ou tthe same 240 horsepower as the current motor, Honda promises more torque, peaking at a lower rpm-the current 2.0-liter produces 153 pound-feet at a stratospheric 7500 rpm. The 2.2 liter will also have a lower redline than the current 9000 rpm and a more linear horsepower delivery. The six-speed manual transmission will use different gear ratios to match the new engine's torquier nature. Honda has also softened the suspention for better ride quality. Subtly different front and rear fascias, new interior trim, and oval tailpipes round out the changes for '04.
My main concern is the "softened the suspention"!!
Let's hope it still handles like or better than the previous S.
2.2-liter with 240hp = More modding potential?
Time will tell.

Wooohoooo, the S2000 is officially a Z3. What is honda thinking?? The 2.2l 250hp sounds good, a little less stress than the 120hp/liter the current engine puts out, with a little more power. But the same power?? Softer suspension?? Lowering the redline to keep the 240hp?? That means its probably around 8000.....??? Oh well, i suppose no news WAS good news.

People didn't believe me when I said this car is thought up by the marketing department.
If that's true, then all the stuff (8.9K redline, highest hp/L production piston engine, go-kart stiff suspension) that made the AP1 so special are gone. Cool.
I guess people won't care though, if the marketing guys think it'll work, it will work to attract the less hardcore people, and that would obviously benefit AHM.

Here is what the service manager told me about the new front end:
- slightly wider & shorter grill area.
- fake air ducts to be removed & replaced with round openings (fog light dealer installation?)
- the headlights same shape but will have 2 arcs that dip into the bumber, similar to the rsx.
This fella claims to have "inside information". Who knows?
