Finally it happened--the moment I've been waiting for since I bought my S2000 almost 9 months ago. Coming home from work tonight, I spied in my rearview mirror the unmistakeable purplish glow of Xenon lamps... the lights approach... stoplight turns red... it pulls up alongside...yes, it IS! Another S2K EXACTLY LIKE MINE! In all my months of ownership, I'd never been on the same side of the road with one. I've maybe seen only 5 others. Now we were side by side at a light.

I honk my horn.

The guy never looks over. He's got this stiff-armed grip on the wheel and his eyes are locked in a forward glare.

Anyone who's complained about the snooty Boxster owners or the rude Z3 drivers, relax. Apparently we do it to.

Don't take it personally. My friends b|tch at me for not noticing them in traffic, both in my S2k and my beater. I've had friends tell me they honked their horn and done everything but wreck into me, I never looked their way.

When some people (like me) drive, they are very, very focused. He probably didn't notice you and if he heard the horn didn't think anyone would be honking at him.

The 1st one I saw was in a parking lot and was the same color as mine. As I was driving past a lady got in the car AFTER giving my wife and me a dirty look. We ended up next to her at a light a few minutes later and she looked at us like we smelled bad. I think my wife may have referred to her as a aunt -- no wait, I don't think it was aunt but the last three letters were the same.

Well, the biggest question nobody has asked is, DID YOU RACE HIS BUTT?? Please, please, please tell me you did, and that you absolutely wasted him.

I would have raced in a heartbeat...

It looks as though our group of S2k owners really are special...I cannot see anyone on this board acting so uptight to another Stook owner.

Hell, when I bought my Miata in the fall of 1990, we were almost as rare as S2000s, so whenever we saw another owner, we would do the "Miata wave" which was hitting the pop-up button for our retractable headlamps as we passed.

Hey, I've got an idea!
Maybe subscribers to this bulletin board could purchase an easy-to-see window sticker so we would know at a distance that we were members! I joined the Gold Coast Miata Club in 1991 and we had a full length windshield transfer spelling out our name in gold letters. It was actually pretty attractive, in an Indy 500 sort of way.
What do you guys think?

Sorry, but I personally wouldn't want a banner across my windshield, regardless of how much I enjoy being a part of the S2000 community.
