S2K+ Comptech or Z4 si?
OK, So a nnoob first post and hello...
And a full understanding that this is an s2k forum, but after lurking for a month this seems to be a damn mature and straight shooting place to ask.
I have a great opportunity to pick up a 2003 S2K with 9k miles and Science of speed is close by for a comptech+aftercooler set up. All in, I can get this done for 28k...
My other option is a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si...
After looking at Dyno sheets the S2K will have a few more ponies, but the Z4 has better torque at the wheels and has it way down low... It also has comp 0-60 and quater times...
So not having had a ride in a comptech equiped car, what are the pluses and minuses of the two?
Am I nuts for not going with the S2K and saving the 10 grand?
Should I expect maintenance and repair to start eating away at the value?
What am I missing or not asking?
Any thoughts would be HUGELY appreciated.

The S is more high strung and precise track oriented car. Sometimes the car gets tedious b/c you really have to drive it. The bimmer is a more friendly DD, especially driving around town. It has the aforementioned low-end torque and a more forgiving clutch, steering, ride, etc. Personally I think the S is beautiful and timeless. I think the Z4, and just about all the bangle bimmers are hideous. If you are looking to mod, I don't think there is all that much aftermarket support for the Z4.
s2k>z4 stock for stock
superchagred s2k no comparison for a z4si
s2k all the way
i work at BMW dealership if your z4 is not under warranty be prepared to shell out a lot of cash for service
just an oil change is $119

If a lot of highway miles are likely, you may be better off with the Z4. Both the Z4 and the S2000 were on my short list, and it is clear that my decision was for the Honda. I haven't regretted it, as the Honda was just more fun to drive, even in stock condition. And a friend of mine who has a Z4 that is now out of warrantee is paying a fortune to keep it on the road. My Honda is cheap to maintain by comparison.
My advice to you is to drive each car. You will know which one you want after that.

Gotcha, and I have been in both as stock, but not an SC S2k...
The big difference is in the Torque of the Z... It's 40 - 50 lbs higher and from way lower in the revs.
The 0-60 times of S/C S2K are very close to the stock Z4 SI. The Stock S2k times I have seen are not very competitive with the Stock 3.0 si (they are similar to the standard 3.0 though).
I guess I am answering my own question to some degree, but wondering if I am just flat not considering something... Maybe they are similar from Zero but not so much on 30 on or roll ons?
I'm not worries about the maintenance as the BMW would be covered for everything for the first 50k miles...
Are there a standard set of considerations or problems to look for with a Comptech SC'd car, or the 03 S2K in particular??

I've read in here that some supercharged S2K's have already passed the 100k mile mark, and still have absoultely no problems, or even anything noticeably lacking.
