S2k Depreciation
I bought my 2000 S2K 2 years ago with 20k miles for $18k. This was one of the lowest priced ones in the country considering the miles. Now I am hearing that many are selling theirs with similar miles and "excellent condition" in the fourteens. Could this car really have depreciated that much in such a short amount of time with no change in miles or wear? Did anyone else notice the value of their S2000 drop like a rock?

I think a lot of people selling AP1's had to keep lowering their price to sell them, as a lot of people like the AP2 more. Also certain colors are not as well sought so those people had to lower their price as well.
Two years happened. Regardless of mileage, your non-collector status car aged two years resulting in depreciation. Factor that in with a slowing economy (less spending on luxury goods), slowing sales of S2000's, and continuing production of new S2000's, a 4 grand drop isn't unreasonable.

Right, in your imagination it was. My brand new 04 in August of 04 was only $29200. You guys pay way too much in SFLA.

You bought a depreciating asset. Basically, deal with it.
Precisely. It's a car. Not an investment. If you're going to look at it from the latter perspective you'll always be disappointed.
Yeah, you definitely overpaid. Your car was 6 or 7 years old. Even with the low mileage, you shouldn't have paid more than ~15K. You can probably get a 3 year old S2000 for 18K. Depreciation happens.
