Default s2k hardtop?

Got yet another newbie to s2000 question.

The hardtop....can it be removed fairly easily. For example, if I were at home, saw it was a great day, how easy is it to get the top off?

Who al makes hardtops? OEM HONDA I know, who else? Mugen? I've heard of a cf hardtop (not that I'm interested but would like to see one).

HT may be difficult to get off by yourself, but its not impossible...just be careful not to scratch/dent the car.

The CF hardtop is made by Mugen, looks exactly like the fiberglass version of it.

Other newbie question:

When you have the hardtop, does it involve un-installing the convertible top?

When you take the hardtop off, do you have to reroute wires to put power back to the softtop for defrosting and convertable top control?

No, all wires stay in place. The only thing you do is plug and unplug the coiled wire on the hardtop that goes to the heating wires. It's like a giant telephone jack.

if the hardtop is on, I'm guessing this is a safety feature here that the softtop would be deactivated and when removed it automatically becomes active again without any wires to connect?

Once you placed the hard top on, there are 4 latches to hold down the hard top. There are also a couple of brackets to stop the soft top if you accidently hit the button to pull it up.

There is a built-in diverter switch for the heater elements. HT on, HT defrost only works. HT off, soft top defroster only works. This is also a "kill" switch for the soft top. HT on, soft top operation defeated. Very simple really.
