I've got 1000miles on the clock and my cars alignment seems to be out of whack. It pulls to the right. When I think about alignments going out I think of a few things. One, the cars suspension has been bent in someway. Two, the settings were not tightened down enough and have drifted out. Third, over time and milage the settings have worked there way out.

So why does my new car have a bad alignment? Should Honda align it under warranty?

Anyone else find that these cars don't stay aligned very well? My prelude stayed aligned for 3 years, and my Accord for 2. What gives?

Don't just give me the answer, "well you just hit a pot hole" because I know that I haven't. I can remeber the last 1000 miles quite easily.

UCrazyKid,

Well, you have to remember that the S2000 has pretty stiff suspension, chassis, and sidewalls (S02's). Allignment will be effected a lot more from daily driving than your average Civic.

I take my car in for allignment twice a year. I have had the S2000 for a year and 4 months, and I have had the allignment done 3 times already.

Have a little over 10K miles and have had the allignment done once. Handling and tire wear were off. Strangest part was that the dealer said it was covered undger warantee.

Mine alignment is fine, 3500 miles.

remember most roads in the US are crowned... to the right... This helps draining of water off of the road surface.

Make sure your tire pressures are ok. Unequal pressures, particularly in the rear tires, can cause the car to pull.

Definitely check the tire pressure like Prolene says. I actually had some very low pressure in my tires (below 24!!!) and the car would drift to the left a lot. I filled the tires back up and it was fine.

After 34000 km I found out that my right front tire (tyre?) is wearing much harder on the inside than the other one. I suppose that this also has to do with misalignment (not pressure as I checked that one)?

Well it looks like Honda is comming through again. I took the car into the dealer today at lunch to have a test drive. The tech confirmed that it pulls/drifts right (duh, why don't they ever take your word for it) and set up an apointment for it on Tuesday. I asked how a new car with 1K on the dial could be out of alignment? He said that they can see it as a result of the car being strapped down on the boat from Japan and then on a truck till it's delivered. He said the straps/hooks/chains whatever are attached to the suspension and then strapped down extremely tight so the cars don't move around during shipment. This can shift everything. They are gonna put it up on the alignment rack, check the subframe for alignment and get it all straightened out (all puns intended). All warranty of course. He did however say that he has not seen this happen to an S2000 before, I guess I'm just lucky. Perhaps thats what the spring spacers help with? Oh well

Andy

Oh yeah, dealer is Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale Ca. They seem to be very good.

Glad that the dealer is taking care of it all for you. Looks like you have a pretty good dealer there.
