S2K in the rain...
Hearing these rain stories about how the S2000 surprises them kinda irritates me. This car is amaziing, it does exactly what you want it to, meaning the inputs you supply will result in the oversteering effects that are causing the rain spin outs.
I think what contributes to this is new drivers jumping into a RWD without respecting it, when coming from a front wheel drive, you can't WOT on a turn like a Front wheel drive and expect to understear safely trough it. Without the aid of traction control Oversteer will happen to you on this car when pushed to the limit, and if you are aware and prepared, I think this is what makes the car amazing!! I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!
Oversteer / Controled slide / Drifting, rain time = fun time. Just be a smart / safe driver when driving the S2000 in the rain. Find an open parking lot sometime and experiment safly to introduce yourself to oversteer so that you are better prepared.

I will admit that after reading all the "rolled it into a ball" stories I was a bit apprehensive - yesterday I went to the PLU Homecoming game (they lost to UPS) and it was raining during and after the game. I drove down 512 to I5 to HW16 all in the rain - on 16 I traveled in the company of a "TT" and a SLK 350. There were zero issues with traction. Maybe it comes from learning to drive RWD cars and my first car being a new '72 240Z - had it 16 years without an accident - autocrossed it a few times even. Point of all this is that if you have a nice car why not put outstanding tires on it and keep them at the correct pressure etc. It is your responsibility - the car doesn't have problems, the drivers do!

Actually, I find the CAR very easy to drive safely on wet surfaces.

The SO2 will behave itself in the wet for only about 10K miles of wear (if you are lucky)

if you have SO2's and want to keep using them, change them out frequently.

Have you ever driven a FWD Civic in standing water at freeway speed's with tire's that had 50-75% tread left? I have. At 60-65 mph, you can't even slightly press on the accelerator pedal without the front tires massively spinning.
I'm not sure how old this Top Gear is, but the S2000 is still using the 16's so I'd assume its got S-02s. Anyway, watch the video, they're driving pretty fast in standing water!

Gee, ya think he's taking those turns at 30mph or better?
Considering the $10K+ price difference (Z4) or maybe $20K difference with the Boxster, I'm happy to spot those cars the tenth second out of the 90 or so on that track. HPH

The last minute and a half of that vid should be a true embarassment to anyone in an S2000 who has spun out in the wet.
