Default S2K Sales

Did any of you notice? Under the "news" section of Honda's website, way down at the bottom, they mentioned this:

"- The S2000 roadster sold a record 9,469 units, a rise of 19.2 percent."

That's for 2001. I thought they only sold 5000 a year here, and they are supposed to increase that to 8K for '02. So how many are they really going to sell here?

You can read this here.

Honda's 5k per year was just an early estimate. They'll build as many as they can sell for as long there is demand.

I think one of our folks that visited the factory said the plant's capacity was 20k per year...is that right?

I don't remember the capacity per year. They said they were currently doing 50 per day, with a max of 100 per day. I don't know how many days per year they build S2000s, however.

Hmm... Taking into account expected year-to-year growth, I think we can conclude that for MY2002, the production number of the car will be the last FIVE digits of the VIN.
