I didn't get that comment either. Perhaps the poster was thinking of a different car like the Sky/Solstice?

You can squeeze out a bit more space if you remove some of the interior trunk panels as well as the spare.

uh.. no..

if you took out the entire soft top assembly you could easily fit some taller items in the trunk where the spare went because the panels would be gone, allowing an item as tall as the rear window to fit back there
