S2k or Vette if $ were =
I would choose the S. I've never driven the C5, nor do I care to. I know there is no way it feels anything like the S, be it the shifter, the steering, the handling, etc. Sure, it may generate better numbers in every regard, but it won't feel like the S while doing it. And I could care less if the Vette is faster....my S is quicker than 99 out of every 100 cars I encounter at a stoplight. I can't ask for much more than that

120 hp / liter normally aspirated
Engineering wonder vs Detroit's idea of fun
Small nimble roadster vs modern muscle car
Honda vs GM
The two are in totally different market segments. Only similarity is "sports car" moniker.
I have never wanted a vette, not even when I was a kid in the 60's. No choice fo me - S2000.

I just looked at the consumer reports 2002 car buyer's edition.
The S2000 was at the top of the sports car list for ownership reliability. The corvette was at the very bottom!
The list went like this (from memory):
S2000: Very Good
Miata: Good
BMW Z3: Just above average
Audi: Just below average
Boxster: fair
Corvette: bad
I can't remember if the MR2 Spyder was on the list, sorry.
