Default S2K vs. NSX

So a buddy of mine has a 91 NSX and tonight we decided to take our cars for a spin in the mountains. Both of our cars are completely stock.
Now i am not sure if i was impressed by the way my S feels because i rarely push it or i was disappointed in the NSX performance. I know that it is a 20 year old car but i expected a little more i think.
My S was able to keep up with the NSX at all times. I had no trouble at all accelerating through the corners where i felt that the NSX couldn't handle the corners as well. Yes on a straight away the NSX had more power but barely as he could not pull far from me at all
the S really is an amazing machine. tonight made me love my car more.

actually simillar thing happened to me.
twice.

#1
doing gimikana with various MX5.
and one old and beaten Civic coupe with a gut who didn't look to be too much expirienced.
he consistently was in top 5.

#2
i'm with my tuned 3rd generation MX5 chaising tuned BMW Z4M roadster coupe.
its driver is highly expirienced and trained.
on under 150kmh section i was keeping the pace just a tad lover. o proble.
only when we got to the over 160kph section with tight sweepers he was able to run away..... (at those speeds his accelleration is much better and traction/grip are obviously better).

Its possible the other guy wasn't driving it as hard, or he had worse tires, etc.

I know the car is 20 years old but I still thought the car would be a little more impressive. Yeah maybe he wasn't pushing it but talking to him after he spoke like he did.

20 year old shocks/springs
20 year old bushings
20 year old steering rack
etc

There's quite a bit more wear on the car. Not to mention that one is a 5 speed.

to be fair we don't know whether all this stuff is still original or was refreshed.

i agree that chance is very very low for the steereing rack - but the rest could be newer.
