Check the 11th digit of your VIN#. As long as it's not an "S" or a "T" then you're fine.

Any S2k with an S or T there is one of the "runt" litter that Honda made for each year, a testing mule if you will. It means the car is probably putting out less HP and will be more prone to developing a cracked spider gear in the ringward housing. You can upgrade this part with Motul Green of course, but don't forget to mount the topside shim perpendicular to the input shaft when you realign the assembly to compensate for the lack of play, then keep the revs above 7000 RPM for the next 500 miles or so to break it in.

SilverStone is definitely the fastest. I beat my friend's Sebring Silver & Berlina Black S2K's all day.

Get a giant Type-R logo airbrushed on your hood. Easy 70hp. It gives 20 more hp than stickers because it can't just be peeled off.

OBVIOUSLY the op's friend has the TYPE R with the NSX v8. cuz its faster even with the passenger. the s2000 type R model was designed for drag races; honda reinforced the differential with 1040 copper to take the higher load from the v8.

the non type R's (LX model which the OP owns) produce a drag coefficient of 42 with the windows down, and was designed for losers to lose stop light drag races on public streets where they could hurt people. it's a safety restraint for idiots.
