More torque in the Z4 might make it easier to hold in a slide, don't have to wind it up as much to get things spinning/sliding. More torque + Slower slide = more reaction time to recover.

s2k is sexier when spinning out of control than z4.

i worked at bmw about a year ago and the z4's are alot more forgiving than the ap1 (not sure about ap2) but i found that on dry pavement the z4's were concederably less fun to drive.

As long as you're not overdriving the car, you'll be fine in either. Everyone that's slammed into a curb [myself included] has either been inexperienced, had mismatched tires, etc etc etc...

Mine were bald (like smooth) and it was cold. Tires were on the way.

Thank you everyone for your input. I am very glad to be part of a group of owners/drivers that have significantly more knowledge and experience than me. Btw, Steven2k and Fish22, your on-going commentary was hilarious! I was LMAO.

you wouldnt, thats why i'm saying it cant be done with the vsa on
VSA, along with the million stability/traction controls out there, aren't invincible ...

Cars still spin out (I tried)

I worked at an Eurofest thing that's held at the Z4 plant in Greenville, SC and we got a chance to flog the Z4s repeatedly. The 3.0 being the sportier or what ever was very understeer prone. It was really hard to get the back to come out compared to my AP1. And with the open diff in the Z4 it's extra hard.

They really are different cars that came from different concepts of driving purity.

An important attribute of the Z4 is that it comes with run flat tires, and of course no spare tire. If a Z4 owner sticks with run flats, the tire choices are limited and replacements are shockingly expensive. Credit the S2000 with giving you tire choices, and therefore a bit more capability to optimize handling for a few extra $$.

I own an 07 S2000, and spent some time behind the wheels of an 07 Z4 3.0si.
I'm telling you, the Z4 is more forgiving IMO. More sophisticated stability control makes the car less prone to spinning, which makes the Z4 a better cruiser than the S2000.
It's more of an older ladies car(no disrespect) than a sports car.
Oh, I'd take my S over the Z anyday. (even though I liked the luxury features of the z4)
Just my $0.02
