You guys do know that it's bad for the pump to run low on fuel. The fuel surrounding the pump keeps it cool and helps the pump last longer.

hmmm i usually end up driving on the light being on. i usually go pretty far, but not far enough to be stranded on the side of the street. i personally don't think my gas gauge is working correctly. sometimes i'll be cruising on the highway and i'll gain a bar on the cluster.

Thats normal... it also measures based upon how you drive.

For example, if you mash the gas for a quick second, one or two of your bars might go away. If you cruise at a steady pace right afterwards, you'll prolly get those bars back.

The S 2000 gas gages are very unreliable, especially when we are below 1/4 tank. I've filled my AP1 up a number of times when she took around 13 gallons showing two bars. And sometimes it is 11 gallons at two bars. I've got four vehicles in my garage -- two German, one Japanese, and one American, and the gas gages all suck. But if you think your gas station is screwing you, here's a trick. Many states only test with a ten gallon tank. A few stations have been found cheating on quantities above ten gallons. So put about 9.5 gallons in and stop the pump. Then get it started again, and fill it up.

You also must factor the temperature into the equation.

gas pumps malfunction after awhile. next time you're at the pump, look for a sticker, it will show you when it was last checked. heard about this on the radio.

The gauge on the S2000 isn't that precise.
