the car has been reported to get up to 150-160 MPH, but thats only speedo indicated. i believe the stock gearing limits the s2000 to only 160 mph anyways, but i doubt the s2000 has the power/aerodynamics to get up to that speed. im not too sure though.

Last I checked, the only governer would be redline in 6th.

The only governor is aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance. The S will not get up to redline in 6th gear so it doesn't matter what it is calculated at. Your actually top speed will depend on whether you have top up or down, direction and velocity of wind, slope of the road, type and condition of road surface, condition and inflation pressure of tire, full gas tank or not, weight of driver, altitude, air temp. Since we have a built in error on the car's speedo, any reports of top speed must be taken with that in mind.
The bottom line for me is: Don't really know, don't really care. It goes plenty fast and quick enough to accumulate lots of tickets.

100% anytihng above 90mph should not occur on a public road.

I beg to differ, I have could have got the car to redline, I was at 150, and I had to let off, but I was only 1000 RPM from getting 9000. It would have done it for sure. I live at sea level though.

If I remember correctly, the aero drag on an S is a bit better than a brick. It's certainly not the smoothest shape out there (pretty upright windshield, if nothing else) and the drag will limit top speed...

Say what you want, but it has been done, don't forget, I am at sea level, in high temp weather, hot air is wayyyy les dense than cold air, less dense = less drag. I have seen many S2k's in my local group bragging about high 140's and low 150's. It is not too difficult. One guy got 145 with the top down. He is fully stock as far as I know.
