Default s2k's low mpg

people think I must get great mpg because I have a 'tiny' car.

but they don't know that their own chevy sedan really does better than me.

I am embarassed of the truth

The S only gets 1 mpg on average better than the 1997 chevy 4x4 that it replaced.

Apparently you bought the wrong car. Insight? Prius maybe? People don't buy S2000's for gas mileage.

most people don't look up gas mileage on every random sports car, just us crazy enthusiasts do that. not too surprising that people don't know it offhand.

and you're complaining about the gas mileage in the same post... which, last I checked, is actually pretty decent. also, you should probably have known what the mileage would be before you made the purchase... so if you thought it was so awful, why'd you buy it?

I get 28-30mpg on my daily commute, 35 miles each way. The majority of it is highway at 75mph. I probably only VTEC it 1-2 times a day when commuting. As far as I'm concerned, 28-30mpg is awesome considering how much fun I have with the S.

I took the S cross country and I averaged about 31 MPG. I wasn't complaining.

I'm talking EPA mpg numbers. When I drive like grandma I can beat those numbers.

I'm just saying, I never have a good response when somebody talks about my 'little' car and how much gas it drinks.

When I bought my S used, gas was NOT $4 +++++ a gallon

mpg is hard to ignore these days, even for sport cars.

If I were shopping for a car today I would not buy a S.

The 2007 S2000 gets better gas mileage than my brothers 2008 Cadillac CTS.

Perhaps your car needs a tune-up? A properly working S, even when driven spiritedly, will get substantially better gas mileage than a 97 Chevy 4x4.

If I were shopping for a car today, I would still get the S. I get 21 mpg around town and I always vtec. Hiway trips are 29mpg. That is quite excellent for any sports car. I really enjoy my S and cannot picture myself in anything else!
