All I can say is good luck. I can't even find the color I want in N. CA--and I can't find anyone to sell at MSRP.

How much is sales tax on a car in Cali? Here in Ontario Canada sales tax is 15% !!! So an S2000 at MSRP is (2001)

$48,000 (CAN) with an additional 15% tax ($7,200) total: $55,200 CAN.

Sales tax in Cali, at least in Los Angeles, is 8.25%...although it might have dropped to 8.00%.

Anyway, assuming it's 8.25%, tax would be approx. $2,701.

I just got a fax from Weseloh Honda

2002 S2000
List $33, 395.00
+options $7160.00
_____________________
$40, 555.00 +tax, lic & fees

on the next page it states the car has the "complete S2000 package $7160 *excludes engine block heater*

hrm, I like the list part but NOT the options (don't need/want all that chit). Since it *is* an option, I can still buy the car w/o options right?

yoshi - who hopes so!

You might have to wait a few months AND buy out of town if you expect a dealer to not only sell you the vehicle at MSRP, but back it down enough to cover all of your sales taxes (8%? ~$2,500) as well...

Good luck!

I'm not getting this car, but here is the list:
"
AUDIO
CD changer w/ attachment

INTERIOR
Aero Screen
Ashtray
Cargo Net
Floor mat (I thought this was standard equipment?)
Seat-back pocket
Security system w/ attachment
Titanium shift knob

EXTERIOR
Emblem kit
Car cover
Front Spoiler
Strakes
Rear Spoiler

Complete S2000 option package $7,160*

*Excludes engine block heater"

I don't see how all this can total $7160 unless they marked up the options

Anyone know if these "options" are in fact optional?

yoshi234 they are trying to stick it to you. There is no such thing as an official "options package". This is just something the dealer made up to add a litte ADP (additional dealer profit). First, some of the things are standard and second you probably don't want everything on the list and third even if you did they are WAY overpriced.
