That is a tough situation. I used to try to do stuff like that for other drivers, as far as letting them know when it was clear to pull out. I don't really do it unless it is absolutely clear that the person is wanting to pull into my lane only. Otherwise, it gets kinda sticky and unclear.
Perhaps the woman thought you meant to pull into her lane only and not into the other lanes. I suppose we will never know now. Just get the car fixed, but it is good you are ok post accident.

i almost did that to someone. i now wave only after i check for them.

It's definitely his fault.

I was on the other end of a similar situation once. I was in the left lane (left turn only) passing a long line of cars in the right lane (straight only) and someone was waved through the line, pulled out and slammed into my quarter panel.

I was on the other end of an accident like this a couple years ago when someone hit my 240SX.

Its not fun for anyone.

sorry to hear, but yeah, next time think twice before going in blind... i've seen an accident similar to this happen before so i try to be careful... hope everything works out for you op

sorry to hear but your fault going into next lane and not the lane that lady was waving you in. if that was a motorcycle, you would've killed someone.
