The engine is bulletproof if you
A) make sure to check the oil level every week or so. The dipstick should read all the diamonds wet with oil, all 5.
B) make sure don't mechanically over-rev the engine, meaning when your going 65 MPH at 6th gear and downshift to 2nd gear (where the redline is 62-63 mph), then that is about 9500 RPM, surpasses the 9000 RPM redline, and will BLOW your engine.
So yes, it is ok to Vtec.
