Safety concerns before buying...
When I was 18-20 I was driving old school muscle cars - a 69 Camaro, Chevelle, Mach 1 Mustang...in the days before traction control and VSA - I never had a problem. My stupid friends were crashing their cars all around me though. I'm not some fantastic talented driver, I just have common sense.
The fact that you are asking if it's a safe car for you shows that you are responsible enough to own one. You recognize that you are not immortal and that there are dangers involved in driving even a mildly powered sports car. The S is a safe car unless you do something extremely stupid, and you don't seem like the type to do something stupid.

Totally agree with that. Get a FWD first, definitely.
I was 28 when I got my S2000, and I'm 35 now. Any younger than that and I would have wrecked it as I was doing stupid stuff in my Integra as late as 26.

I'm 37 yrs old, I purchased my S last April. I have been driving for 21 yrs with a perfect driving record, having said that, even expericed drivers like myself can be caught off gaurd with the S when pushed. This is my first RWD car ever. After spinning it out the first time, I took some time after that to really get use to it, now I have no problems, just took some time. If you do happen to get an S, take your time to really know the car and you'll be fine. Good luck.
Its not that the S2000 isnt safe during an accident that makes it unsafe but the fact that you are more prone to be in an accident.
I've spun the back tires a little coming out of a corner once, it was surprising because I wasn't giving it much gas. Auto-X classes would definitely be advisable, whatever car you get... I'm thinking about doing that myself. It's a great place to learn where your car will lose control without endangering yourself, the car, or anyone else.
Thanks for everyones advice!! I'll think ill just wait for the s2000 haha dont wanna sound like a wuss but i havent driven in over a year and the insurance is a bit too high for me. oh yeah and maturity haha
Again thanks!
Again thanks!
A good sign of maturity, is admitting your immaturity. Trust all of us, we're fiends, it's worth the wait.
I imagine a young driver? I disagree with each line. Still, I wish there was a car that would make one a man...
