Salvage Title Question
i am an owner of a used 2001 myself... and before i made my purchase, i was briefly looking at salvage titled cars... i quickly gave up on that idea, both because i knew i couldn't be happy w/ one, but mainly b/c there were a lot of drawbacks associated with it.
not only were there tons of issues about the quality of repair and potential hidden surprises, there were lots of other potential purchasing and future issues as well...
banks were unlikely to finance a salvaged car or they wanted insane rates, and my insurance company was going to place some rather surprising limitations on what they would and wouldn't cover...
for me, unless you're planning to buy something for pure car show exhibition or for hard core racing -- salvaged titles seemed to be a generally bad idea.

- my friend has a silver s2k, salvaged... of course you can't tell
- it was supposedly a theft recovery, so he had to buy seats, antenna, and some little shlt.. also repainted it
- like mentioned above, only difference is that YOU will know its salvaged and that will always be in the back of your mind...

yeah, but there is a huge difference between theft recovery and an accident. With the accident you never know the extent of the damage (if you didnt fix it). With theft recovery, it most likely was just stripped and sometimes the comment "Drive it like you stole it" comes to mind.
All the same though...salvaged brings the value way down.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm now rethinking and may just sit on the idea of buying the car right now. I'm thinking maybe by spring I'll have enough money to spare for a 2002 Sebring Silver..ahhh..my dream.. lol..I love the looks you get when your in a nice car
one final piece of advice -- take it for what it is worth...
watch the certified used cars on Honda's site and at your local dealers... lots of people might be trading in 2001's and 2002's off of lease for the 2004's or different cars... with a good winter in blow and a surplus of used S2000's on a cold dealer's lot... the pricing should become quite good.
best of luck.
