Salvage Title Question
Just an FYI....Honda cancels all of the warranties except seat belts and federal emissions on any car with a salvaged title. May not matter to some, that alone should push the price down a bunch on a car. Think how much it would cost to just replace some simple electronic component if its not under warranty.
Salvaged cars are always soooo tempting. Sometimes insurance companies will salvage out a car because the air bag went off. Air bags are really expensive to fix and a lot of the times they are not fixed correctly.
I would always think about what kind of damage the car really had to be salvaged... It's not worth it for peace of mind. You should just get a legit used one.
One other thing is that some insurance companies won't even insure it. American Family won't (that's who I have).

Very interesting thread. I have been looking at salvage vehicles for the best part of a year and just bought one. I think you have to evaluate the damage on each vehicle individually. If your buying something someone else has already repaired this can be hard to do. In my case I paid $8,000 for a 2002 with 19,000 miles that has been rolled. Fortunatly most of the damage is bolt on replacement with the exception of one quarter panel and paint. When you start pricing out the cost of NEW parts to be replaced and the labor to take them off and replace them you can see how a car can get written off pretty quick before any serious body work is even added in! Granted I will be doing most of the work myself and replacing damaged with mostly used parts I figure I will have this car on the road for $12,000 - $13,000 depending on paint, and probably under $15,000 with a supercharger. I think this is a great deal for me. I had the same kind of deal with a Ducatti bike a year ago. The bike went down and took some minor cosmetic scuffing, no structural or mechanical damage. All it need was a new handle bar to be driveable. Anyway by the time they coste dout the noew bolt on parts it was over $9,000 and they wrote it off. Incredible!! Point is you need to evalute each vehicle differently. Some might be great deals some sould be avoided at all risk! Good luck.
