Default that same annoying notchy shifting

So just wanted to hear everyones inputs, don't you just hate the stock oem shift nob or shifter what ever is causing it! I've heard buying a heavier shift nob does the job for the most part but is it just the shift nob? I hate it when I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd and its not so smooth feels like its notchy, grinding but anyone know what else?

- weighted shift knob (if it's also countersunk it will shorten your throws as well)
- change MTF fluid
- regrease shifter (search for the DIY)

I change mine every 15K or so, just to be safe.

I change trans fluid every oil change, clutch bled at the same time. I also double clutch up/down. lots of arguments whether it helps or not but thats just my 2 cents.

Make sure your clutch is adjusted properly and disengaging 100%.

Also you can check/clean/lubricate the clutch ball thing on the underside of the car (forgot the name) and also grease the area inside the tranny bellhousing where the clutch fork goes in with a small paint brush.

Also make sure your seat is far enough forward while driving. I started out with the seat all the way back, and then I moved it forward and got used to sitting closer to the controls, and closer to the pedals. I haven't experienced the notchy shifting in a long time. Early on when I had the S2k, I had some bad notchy shifting with a few gear grinds. I don't know if something changed during a tune-up, or if being closer to the clutch pedal helps.

It's a great shifter. You prefer sloppy?
