Saving gas in your S
With all the racket about saving the planet and saving money on gas, I've been casually thinking back to the days of driving my little 4 cylinders and trying to get 40mpg to save that dime. (now I still have 4 cylinders
)
The thought practically disgusts me now. Why would I want to invest thousands on a vehicle that I simply use to get from place to place? Why would I want to inconvenience myself at the goal of saving pennies a day, but costing much thought, safety, and time invested? Out of all the activities I do consistently, every day, spending so much time, the most is in a vehicle.
You could survive on potatoes, spam, maybe a vitamin here or there and water for months at a time, to "save money in the recession". But that doesn't make sense does it? Eating is a huge investment of our time, so is driving. My wouldn't you want to invest in excelling at something you do everyday, that your livelyhood might depend on?
I don't understand "normal" people now. I've been on my spirited driving routine for so long, I am distanced from the average driver. I must have 9k. I must have insta-boost around that next corner. My day is not complete without some tire slip. I'm addicted.
So am I alone or what?

not alone sir... my wallet allows me to have fun times as much as I want... it's just the beauty of this machine that we can get good mpg when we aren't flooring it... so best of both worlds

seems like no matter how i drive my car im going to get about 24-26 MPG.

I get 27-28 on the highway, but only 18-20 around town. Price of gas isn't a significant item in my budget, so I don't sweat it.
a good alternative is to pick up a civic vx( or is it vg)
40+ mpg for a daily and the s2k for nice days / weekends.
thats only if u have an insane commute though with a 1 hour commute (typical where i am from) it doesnt make to much sense to get that extra 3-4mpg by driving slow or buying a beater to get 10mpg more.
ps: id say ur not alone but i take the train to work lol (not cuz of gas prices) convenience.

Meh, If I have space on the freeway/roads I'll rip it..but down here, its mostly traffic. why rev it up to Vtec when youre just gonna slam on the brakes? I drive like a grandma shifting @ 3-4K in traffic. Give me space and I'll drive for 'fun'
I actually went to this car from my old one cuz: it was fun and it saved gas - camaro V8 ftmfl.

I just got my 2007 on Monday, 6-15. I commute 100 miles a day of mostly fwy. I am hoping for hi 20's. I shift 'round 3500rpm. My modded Miata with 240whp got 28 on this commute. The S revs 500 rpms lower @ 70mph. I'm gonna give it a try. I will keep you guys posted.
