I see what you're saying shockwave667. Maybe I am so consumed by how amazing it is to drive, I am not thinking about the next owner. I can see where you are coming from though. In the end, (excuse the cliché) each to their own.
Yea I get both sides. I could never imagine not driving my S...the last 3 of them I owned After beating the crap out of them, getting sick of daily driving them, and then missing not having one, I realized I should treat the next one better and keep it around.

Again, if I did not already get my time behind the wheel, I never would have felt this way.

If I don't do at very least 2000 miles a month something is wrong. I love it, and drive it everywhere for every reason. Driving to/from work is 30 miles round trip and I usually extend that to 70+ miles a day plus the extra random cruising around sessions, lots of them. I'll usually rack up 150-200 miles a day on the weekends.

Ah. Maybe I have to go through that journey. I can see that happening to me too actually shockwave667. I can already visualize driving the crap out of this one, and getting a mint CR in a few years from now, and just keeping it for weekends.

Consider me enlightened! Thank you

A commute isnt fun. So a beater is it. If you truly want to enjoy this car in a safe manner take it to a track or autox. I would prefer to accumulate track miles instead of commute ones. That doesnt mean I dont enjoy this car on the street. You just cant experience this car at 100% on the street. Well you can but you may hurt yourself or others.

I love driving the car, don't get me wrong.

But my work is 3 miles each way and I am there from 9:30am to 8pm.

I just see no reason for me to drive 3 miles just to park it and let it sit there all day and drive another 3 miles back home and park it. I wouldn't even be able to enjoy it.

Hence the reason why I have a DD to get me from there and back, or anywhere close.

edit: Oh, and when I do get in it (since I usually drive i 1 day out of the week), i appreciate the car and it's just that much more fun to drive IMO

00S2K01S4, I definitely respect where you're coming from, but I really really enjoy driving the car on the street everyday, and I don't treat the street like the track.

I agree with you about seeing the car's full potential on the track, but I don't think we HAVE to take it to a track to enjoy it. But, I might change my tune after a few years of driving it. Have to wait and see.

Watch this space, I'll be eating my words (maybe) in a year or two when I buy a beater myself

Ill leave it to the preservationists to do the saving, while I get to enjoy driving the car.

I didnt pay what I did to let it sit and "rot"
I drive the crap out of it, rag on it every day, and wring every last dime's worth out of my monthly payment to make sure I have no regrets.
I travel 150+ miles ONE WAY to join my regional forum's drives once a month, put anything from 200-800 miles on it during that weekend, and then drive 150 miles home.

I love owning an S and dont waste a minute of it.

akuma, i'm actually in the same boat as you. got mine about a month ago and i put over 1100 miles on it. to others that might just seem average, but to me that's pretty crazy. my first car, 240sx i loved it so much and i thought i drove around everywhere. but in the end when i sold it in about 2 1/2 years, i realized i only put about 10,000 miles on it.

now rewind back a month, i thought i was getting a decently low mileage s2000 (60k for an 04) and never even thought i'd put more miles on it than my 240. but i guess i must love driving it and have the miles to prove it. i used to have a reasoning behind why i wouldn't drive my car so much...i would rather have something that look as new as possible no matter how old it gets. and the more you drive it, the more chance to make it less perfect. however, this reasoning of mine simply can't win the desire in me to drive my s2000.

like shockwave said though, i'm planning on purchasing a near perfect 08-09 s2000 w/ 10-30k miles when i'm settled in and have a garage. best believe that will be my garage queen. until then i'm gona enjoy the hell out of my current one.

I use my S everyday. It is my daily, and when winter comes I will put it in the garage. I love the car, and driving it all the time is a blast. I like putting miles on my car. Iv had it 3 months and I bought it with 89,000 - and it almsot has 96,000 I hope to put 200,000 on it, in 5 years.
