I drive mine any chance I can unless:
1. Bad weather, can't enjoy the S2000 safely on wet/icy roads
2. Parking in unsafe areas (downtown at the bars, or overnight etc.)
3. Times when I need to carry passengers or cargo

Otherwise the S2000 is my first choice. Why save it? Chances are you will sell it one day and all you will be doing is giving the next owner a great deal on a low mileage car.

I used to try and save miles on my S, but it just doesn't feel right for me...

I tried driving to work with a beater and go chill with friends with a beater on weekdays, and tried using it on weekeneds and someimes don't even go out on weekends... soo..

It just hit me, Why did I buy a car (i liked so much) that I wouldn't use...

and someone mentioned earlier too... "its not a ferrari" also why save up miles when i'm not gonna sell it maybe buy another one so i have 2. =)

if the engine ever does give up on me, jsut get another one.
I say don't punish yourself for buying an S, but enjoy it evryday and evrytime you have a chance...

I think that if I had purchased my car used I wouldn't keep it so babied. Watching a rare, once prestine car deteriorate would bother me. I didn't buy the car drive into the ground - I bought it to enjoy. The times I do enjoy it are always like the first and with a low mileage car it acts and looks like it did new. Forgetting about the year - essentially I have been driving a new car for ten years now. Although, I suppose with 19k miles it is like driving a two year old car.

Akuma, I don't drive mine much to keep the miles low. When I bought it the salesman told me the S2000 would appreciate, not depreciate, so I figure keeping the miles low will add more value. I think my car is now worth maybe $175,000 but I will wait to sell till it's worth 500K, then I can pay off my trailer and retire and drink beer.

I understand where you are coming from but mileage isn't what makes your car deteriorate it's age and lack of maintenance. I've seen 200-300K mile cars that looked new because the owner kept them looking that way. bumpers can be repainted, mechanical parts can be replaced.

I can't imagine only driving 1,900 miles a year on my S2000. I do about 5,000 miles a year and that still doesn't feel like much at all.

I'd rather drive my car and keep it looking new by replacing or repairing parts as needed than to let it sit and dry rot away.
True - but as I found out with my Z, parts for car post production become harder and harder to find. Unless you are talking about an American Classic.
In all actuality I would probably have a lot more miles on my car if I didn't leave it in NJ while I was in Florida for seven years.

I have put 60k+ miles on mine since I bought it about 3.5 years ago. I drive the hell out of this thing. I've hit a raccoon, replaced tires countless times, changed out coilovers twice, and have enjoyed every second of it. My cv joints are shot and need to be replaced but once they are, I will be driving the crap out of it again. Miles mean nothing b/c miles don't dictate the condition of the car, the owner does. In the next year or so I will probably repaint the car its original shade of silverstone to brighten her up, but I couldn't care less about her mileage. In fact the more I put on her the more stories I will have.

Oh and I still have the original top from 2003 on her. No tears or wear marks.

I bought my s2k to specifically be my DD.

My wrx has gotten way past the line with lack of comfort and reliablilty haha.

All I've done to the S is Exhaust, TP, Coilovers and wheels. Trying to keep myself from doing anything else.

I have respect for people who keep their S in near mint condition. As for myself, I think the S is just "a car". I beat the hell the out of when I have a chance (track, autox). I like to drive my S the way engineers designed it. I do take care of it but I don't baby it. Like I said, I have no problem with people taking care of cars, but there are some people that will come to you and ask you the "why" questions (why DD it, why track it, blah blah). The S will never reach the 100k+ price auction in my lifetime. So preserving it is not in my book. I will drive and enjoy the car until it breaks down and when that time comes, i'll just buy a different car, Porsche or something. No big deal.

I have an '02 with 52, 2xx miles.

It's daily driven but I've just been lucky I guess.
